Vertical Layer Cake

This cake, no matter how pretty it looks, involves a long process. You bake two cakes, immediately freeze said cakes, cut cakes, re-freeze both cakes, thaw cakes, decorate cakes, then eat cakes. It took me a good couple of days to complete this but it's really worth it and you end up with two good-looking cakes at the end!

Check out Amanda's blog for a tutorial on how to do it. She's got lots of photos and info over there and the instructions are fairly straightforward. I used two packet-mix cakes instead of baking my own from scratch because it was quicker, and also because I wanted my two cakes with the same consistency/denseness.
